Meet the Member: Aero Energy
Company History:
Founded in September of 1929 Aero Energy has been serving the greater Hanover, PA community for over 90 years. It should come as no surprise that Aero Energy’s growth did not happen overnight. Prior to expanding into Maryland, Aero Energy’s humble beginnings can be traced back to the quaint town of New Oxford, Pennsylvania with the opening of a single service station under the name “Aero Oil.” Amazingly, the idea was formed by founder David DeTar and H. C. Moul during a game of golf at Caledonia Golf Club. Just over a month after Aero Oil opened, the U.S. stock market crashed. A tumultuous time for any new business, Aero Energy was able endure when many neighboring companies shut their doors. The company was also able to continue its growth during World War II and the energy crisis of 1970s. If you ask the folks at Aero Energy what has made them successful over the years, you’ll often hear about the fulfillment of the value DeTar posed so many decades ago – “Depend on us for those who depend on you.” This sentiment has fueled their growth and propelled them forward into the 21st century. It is commonplace for their customers to be neighbors, friends and even family members of an Aero Energy employee. This trend has helped foster their unrivaled quality of service.
Today, Aero Energy operates out of a headquarters in New Oxford, PA, has 8 regional offices across Pennsylvania and Maryland and serves a total of 26 counties. What started as a single truck operation has now grown into a fleet of over 200 trucks. Their offerings have been greatly expanded over time to include heating oil, propane, diesel fuel, HVAC services as well as plumbing and electrical work. As an employee owned company, the Aero Energy team truly brings a level of pride and commitment with them to work every single day that any business owner would strive to match.
The Future of Aero Energy:
The year 2020 has been full of surprises for just about every company in the U.S., but there is much to be excited about for the future of Aero Energy. Having just launched their Self-Service Portal, their customers can now order fuel directly online from the convenience of their smartphone or computer. “Times are changing and so are we,” said CFO, Wes Warehime. “Our new online offering was designed in recognition of the fact that people are turning to e-commerce for their shopping needs now more than ever before. That’s why we’ve made ordering propane and heating oil for your home as easy and efficient as possible.” Another exciting initiative that Aero Energy has been rolling out this past year is their new Aero Tank Monitors. These devices transmit data via satellite and allow Aero Energy’s propane customers to monitor their real-time tank levels from their smartphone. With this technology, fear of a run-out is truly becoming a thing of the past. As these initiatives along with others continue to take form, the future is looking bright at Aero Energy.
Lasting Mission:
Much has changed since its founding in 1929, but Aero Energy’s mission has remained:
Serve as a trusted partner in all things fueling and HVAC and strive to provide the highest level of customer dedication and commitment possible.
